The prospect of selling a house from interstate seemed daunting. The selection process for an agent in Sydney narrowed it down to Luke Holden from Sarah Lorden Real Estate.

 

Luke responded within a short time to my online request for an appraisal of my Annandale property.

 

On our first introduction Luke was very personable and attentive, outlining his services and prospects for the sale of my property.

 

I know that Luke worked over the weekend to present me with a marketing proposal delivered by email on the Monday morning.

Christine was one of the most professional real estate reps I have ever met with. Dear Ladies, a quick note of congratulations on your wonderful organisation.

 

From the first point of contact - the lovely receptionist Davina to Michelle Gruszka and Christine Ibrahim, I can't recall ever having such a positive experience in the Real Estate market at any level.

 

I have recently arrived from Melbourne with my 6 year old son due to relocation by Grey Advertising. If it isn't hard enough being a single parent, going through the effort of moving school, house and renting it out - to arrive in Sydney to start a 'full on' role whilst trying to find; a nanny, a school [which can't be confirmed until an address has been secured!] and a house whilst living in a horrid serviced 1 b'rm apartment and paying $1400 for the privelledge -but being walked over and gazumped when trying to just rent a place - I have found an extremely harrowing and stressful addition to our situation.

 

Until, that is, we walked into Sarah Lorden.

 

I won't go into details, suffice to say, I was successful on a beautiful property which for my own personal reason [bringing my dog up] I turned down. But, I couldn't let each and every person whom I came into contact with, go by without a very big thank you - you have all restored my faith in realtors [and Sydneysiders].

 

I shall be looking to buy in a few months and I shan't even bother looking elsewhere. Many thanks and congratulations on such a 'happy' company.

Dear Ms Lorden,

 

Recently, we had an occurance at Gallimore Ave, Balmain where Ben, our property manager took enough of an interest in what was going on to avoid what was as they say an accident waiting to happen. He was inspecting another property he also manages in the same building and noticed a strong gas smell in the apartment. I know that you were alerted to the situation so I know that I don't need to explain the details.

 

My husband and I feel that the steps taken by Ben need to be noted and exemplarised. Firstly, Ben rang me and alerted us because he knew that my husband was on the BC and that he had all the necessary contacts, ie. the president of the BC and the strata manager whom my husband could contact immediately - which he did.

 

My husband attends all meetings and has been on the BC for years and he knew nothing in regard to this matter. The special note we raise is that Ben did not leave the situation there and rely on other people to remedy what needed immediate attention. He himself organized a plumber to come as soon as possible to assess the situation and he stayed on the case until he knew that steps were being taken to stop the leak - whatever it took.

 

Because of the time Ben took on the phone alerting us, the BC, calling the Strata Manager, organizing the workmen and doing all the follow-up afterwards, we were all saved from what could have been a disaster. The tenants obviously didn't realize how dangerous a gas leak can be and this one had been ongoing for some time apparently.

 

To have people on your staff that can think for themselves and take a task to hand no matter how much time outside office hours it may take, is, I know what being a Property Manager is all about. However it rarely happens. In this case, we were very pleased to experience this most professional reaction and we feel it needs to be commended. Ben did the right thing. He did not abandon his responsibility when it went beyond the boundaries of normal property management duties and he stuck with it until the job was completed to his satisfaction - no matter what it took. And he followed up with all interested parties.

 

We thank Ben for alerting us in the first instance. He is an employee who is able to think quickly and clearly in an emergency and sensibly take steps to alleviate a difficult situation - qualities needed in this field but rarely found.

Dear Kate, I have been meaning to write to you for some time in respect of Luke and Ben’s work and their assistance in respect of the property at 5 Prosper. There has been a complexity of changes there, new tenancy, major renovation work, dismantling the flat.... etc.
